Transform Your Home into a Sanctuary for Complete Well-being: Five Practical Tips

Our home is where we live, learn, and love. Things can get busy, especially if you have kids. Here are some expert tips for creating a healthy, holistic space in your home to maintain peace of mind!

I’m a business owner and a mom of four. Over the years, my gym membership fell by the wayside. I’ve always valued personal wellness, even during my three pregnancies in three years, but finding the time for those long 90-minute workouts became impossible.

Back when I was 35 and single, I had what seemed like endless hours to go to the gym, run a 10k, and take yoga classes, all in one day. I loved working out, but now, with three babies and as a stepmom, every moment is precious.

My husband and I both work from home, so we’ve developed some strategies to keep our space clean, clear, and healthy. We want to be role models of wellness and leadership for our kids, and our family philosophy is the foundation for excellence.

We’ve decided to prioritize happiness, freedom, and health as the core principles of our lifestyle. Here are some simple strategies we’ve used to stay true to our values and keep our family functioning at its best:

1. **Maximize Space and Minimize Clutter:**
Keeping your home spacious and clean will inspire you to maintain healthy habits. Reduce clutter (or get rid of it entirely) to create more breathing room.

2. **Dedicated Health Space:**
Designate a corner or room in your home for holistic health. Fill it with things that make you feel alive and healthy, like art, natural materials, stones, yoga mats, and essential oils. Keep this area bright and free from chemicals and toxins.

3. **Limit Bedroom Electronics:**
Electrical gadgets in your bedroom can disrupt your sleep. Remove as many as possible, including alarm clocks with artificial lights that interfere with melatonin production. Aim for a gadget-free bedroom for better sleep.

4. **Fridge Detox:**
A fridge full of whole, live food can make you feel vibrant. Remove any foods that don’t serve your body well. Stock up on fresh, healthy foods that make your cells feel alive and grateful.

5. **Positive Home Environment:**
Your home should be a sanctuary free from toxic energy. It requires patience and discipline to establish a daily practice of love and kindness. Start by reducing negative language, gossip, and complaints. Gradually replace them with words of respect, integrity, kindness, and well-being.

Creating a holistic hotspot in your home is straightforward but takes a strong commitment to your health and making the most of your precious time.
