Transform Your Living Room into a Fitness Haven

Do you ever feel like working out but don’t want to drive to the gym? We totally get it! That’s why we’re excited to share this expert routine! Designed by fitness pro Matthew Carney, this workout lets you exercise right in your living room. Try it tonight!

Sometimes getting to the gym isn’t possible, but you can still squeeze in an effective workout at home or even while traveling.

Here are some great exercises that will tone your entire body:

For a firm rear like J.Lo or Pippa Middleton, lay on the floor with your feet on the edge of the sofa. Press into the sofa and lift your hips by squeezing your glutes tightly. Lower slowly to complete one rep. Do 1 set of 24 reps.

For a side plank, lean on your forearm on the sofa cushion, step your feet back, and turn to the side. This position is more comfortable than using a mat! Hold for 45 seconds on each side. Complete 2 sets of 45 seconds per side, one side at a time.

To work your lower body and hips, use a stepladder or sturdy chair for support. Stand next to it, lean in, and lift your leg to waist height, then kick out straight. Pull your leg back in, touch your foot down, and kick again! Do 2 sets of 12 kicks per leg.

To get your heart rate up and work your lower body, find a step or stair. Put one foot on the step and leap to switch feet. Complete 2 sets of 20 switches in 40 seconds or less.

Place a pillow on the ground and use it to hop over. Do 10 hop-overs on one leg, side to side, then with both feet together. For an advanced option, add 10 hop-overs front to back and 10 leaping lunges, switching legs over the pillow. Challenge yourself by stacking more pillows!

Do 2 sets of 20 push-ups, starting at counter height. Move from the counter to a sofa or chair as you get stronger, then progress to a step and finally the ground.

Sit on a pillow or two and do classic seated stretches with your legs split wide. The pillow’s height makes it easier to stretch and fold forward. Perform each stretch twice, holding for at least 20 seconds.

This living room workout can boost your health! The next time you have a few free minutes at home, give it a try and let us know how it goes. You don’t need to be tied to the gym to work out – you can exercise anytime, anywhere!
