Transform Your Home into a Sanctuary of Holistic Well-being with These Five Tips

Our home is where we live, learn, and love, but it can get pretty hectic, especially if you have kids! Here’s some great advice from an expert on creating a healthy, holistic home to help you find peace of mind.

As a business owner and mom of four, I’ve seen my gym membership gather dust over the years. I’ve always been dedicated to personal wellness, even through three pregnancies in three years. But finding the time for a traditional 90-minute gym workout just isn’t feasible anymore.

Back when I was 35 and single, I had all the time in the world to go to the gym, run 10Ks, and even take yoga classes—all in one day sometimes. Now, with three kids and being a stepmom, every moment in my day is precious.

While time was always valuable, I now have an even clearer understanding of just how precious it is, especially with limited personal time.

Since my husband and I both work from home, we’ve developed strategies to keep our home clean, clear, and healthy. We aim to be role models of wellness and leadership for our children, and we believe a solid family philosophy is essential for excellence.

We prioritize happiness, freedom, and health as the core values of our family lifestyle. Here are some simple strategies we use to maintain our integrity and well-being for ourselves and our kids, which you can start using today to transform your home into a holistic haven:

1. Clear Out Clutter: A spacious, clean, and vibrant home will inspire you to keep up with healthy habits. Minimize or eliminate clutter to create more breathing room. Every bit of clutter drains your energy, so the more space you have, the more life force you can take in. I like to clean with vinegar and essential oils.

2. Create a Health Corner: Dedicate a corner or a room in your home to holistic health. This space should make you feel alive and vibrant with art, natural fibers and flooring, natural light, essential oils, and other meaningful elements. Crystals, yoga mats, and fitness props are great additions. Keep this area bright and free from toxins and chemicals.

3. Minimize Bedroom Electronics: Too many electrical gadgets in the bedroom can disrupt your sleep. Remove as many as possible, as artificial lights and alarm clocks can interfere with melatonin production. I advise clients to keep their bedrooms gadget-free to prioritize good sleep.

4. Detox Your Fridge: A fridge stocked with fresh, whole foods will energize you. Get rid of anything that doesn’t serve your body well and stock up on foods that fuel you. A fridge detox and refuel will make your cells feel revitalized.

5. Create a Loving Environment: Remember, your home is your sanctuary. Who wants toxic energy there? It takes patience and discipline, but implementing daily acts of love and kindness can do wonders for the home. View your home as alive and vibrant and be mindful of the language you use. Reducing negative talk and gossip is the first step, followed by cultivating respect, integrity, kindness, and well-being. Your home and body will thank you.

For my husband and me, the most important part has been practicing extreme patience and kindness during the transition phase.

Making your home a holistic hotspot is simple, but it requires a deep commitment to your health and maximizing the precious time you have to live your best life.
